Ambassador to the EU Visits Yellow Pallet's Factory in Siquirres, Costa Rica
The Ambassador to the European Union in Costa Rica, Ms. Maria Antonia Calvo Puerta visited Tarimas de Fibras Agricolas S.A. (TDFA). Such a visit not only confirms her backing of European investments in Costa Rica but more importantly the presence of European innovation in areas of environmental impact. Ambassador Puerta was pleased to learn about this Dutch company's innovative approach to its processing of fibres for the production of shipping pallets. During her visit, the European team had the opportunity to look around the banana plantations from where part of the fibres are sourced as well as the manufacturing facility where the fibres are processed and compressed. After the opening remarks with Elio Machillanda, President of TDFA in Costa Rica, Ambassador Calvo exchanged a very positive feedback and praised Yellow Pallet's positive environmental impact. After that, Susan Hoekstra and Antonio Brenes (General Manager and Plant Manager respectively of TDFA), toured the facilities with the European team.

Yellow Pallet announces change in Leadership
After nearly 10 years as CEO and board member of Yellow Pallet B.V. Mr. Van Opstal has decided to resign as of February, 2022. Van Opstal’s colleague in the board, Mr. Ad van der Sluijs, will temporarily take over the duties and responsibilities. Ad van der Sluijs: “We respect Hein's decision and sincerely thank him for his unremitting efforts in recent years. Hein has delivered a major performance. Under his leadership, the company has developed a disruptive and sustainable pallet that receives positive market response. With this, Hein has put the company in a very promising position.”
Hein van Opstal: “Over the past 10 years I have experienced a great and dynamic time. Together with a highly skilled international team in we have created a sustainable game changer in the pallet sector. A great moment to hand over leadership and focus on a new challenge.”
Following Hein’s departure, we are pleased to welcome Elio Machillanda, our current Business Development Director, as our new President for Tarimas de Fibras Agrícolas S.A. Elio’s contribution during his former role, as well as his achievements, have made him the right candidate to lead our organization in the times to come. Today’s changes are further steps in seeking ways to deliver our mandate of becoming an innovative organization in the area of shipping logistics via the use of agri-fibers in the production of shipping pallets and its components. Always with our environment and communities at the forefront of our vision.
Over the last year, we have been expanding our manufacturing capabilities at the same time we continue to innovate. We are continuously pursing new solutions and we are looking forward towards bringing some of these to life under Elio’s leadership.
This leadership change is effective immediately, however much work remains to fully implement the new structure and we will be engaging with all stakeholders. You will be hearing more from Elio over the coming days as we move forward, as we wish him success during this new path of his career within our organization.

CATIE & Yellow Pallet sign long-term cooperation agreement
On a recent top to top meeting that took place in Siquirres, Costa Rica, between Board Members of both CATIE and Yellow Pallet BV, Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim, General Director of CATIE in Costa Rica, and Mr Hein van Opstal, President & CEO of Yellow Pallet BV have signed a cooperation agreement. Such partnership seeks not only to make of CATIE a supplier of banana fibre for Yellow Pallets’s undertaking in Costa Rica, but also to further understand the performance of the fibre from seed inception to fibre development in order to increase productivity and further enhance the future environmental, social and economic impact of this sustainable project.
